MISSION
The mission of the Phelps County Community Foundation is to encourage and provide opportunities for charitable giving, to manage and distribute the funds in a responsible manner, and to enhance the quality of life for the people of Phelps County.
The Phelps County Community Foundation (PCCF) solicits, receives, invests, and distributes funds for charitable, cultural, and educational purposes to benefit the citizens of Phelps County and the surrounding area. The Board of Directors governs the Foundation. Its objectives are:
- Build a perpetual endowment for charitable grants made at the discretion of its board.
- To encourage donors to establish funds in the Foundation to achieve their charitable objectives.
- To advance philanthropic activities in the area served by the Foundation by acting as a catalyst and convener for leadership and community development by fostering relationships that engage the Foundation, its donors, board members, grantees, and volunteer leadership.
VISION
On January 2, 1976, Carl Hendrickson, William Richards and Liscom J. (Joe) Titus held the very first meeting of the Phelps County Community Foundation. They elected officers, adopted bylaws, and approved fees and expenses for incorporation as a charitable foundation. These men were acting on the final wish of Irene Anderson, that a foundation be formed with the proceeds of her estate to make life better for the people of Phelps County for generations yet to come. From that generous gift, the Foundation has grown to approximately $30 million dollars in charitable assets Mrs. Anderson’s legacy lives on.
